When you are self-aware, you understand what motivates you, what works and does not work for you, what triggers you and what matters most to you. Before practicing any self awareness techniques, it’s important that you be open to whatever you find.
How Can You Improve or Increase Self-Awareness?
Spend Time By Yourself – spend alone time to reflect, meditate and relax. Be alone with your thoughts or clear the thoughts from your mind. Get rid of the outside influences and noise and just…be.
Write Your Thoughts in a Journal – writing in your journal everyday will help you differentiate your voice from the voice of others. These are your in the moment thoughts, words, emotions – written down on paper to explore and examine.
Don’t Be Afraid to Dig Deep – look deep inside yourself to find your inner strength to overcome any battles. Own your mistakes and then let them go. Envision the life you want to have and what steps it will take to get you there.
Ask for Feedback – it’s scary because you have no idea what someone will say. But this is a great way to see how others perceive you. Without positive or negative feedback, you will have a difficult time improving yourself or seeing where your strengths or weaknesses lie.
Take a Personality Test – tap into your talents or traits, some you may not even know you have, and see where they are best served.
